Dear friends,

I am inspired by the paintings of Hyatt Moore, a former Wycliffe member who served the organization as president from 1992 to 1997.

One of Hyatt’s paintings, pictured here and titled “Last Language Translator,” portrays the person who will one day start a Bible translation for the last unreached language group on earth. Since no one knows the identity of this person or the language they will serve, Hyatt painted the subject in heavy shadows, holding a book without a title. Drips of paint stream down from the person’s sleeve, hinting at a work done in haste.

This image is a great reminder of the urgency of Bible translation. Today more than 2,200 languages are waiting for a translation to begin in their community. For these last languages, the future is as uncertain as this painting. How long will they have to wait?

You can play a significant role in making Bible translation a reality for these last languages. Perhaps you are passionate about praying for a Bibleless community. Or maybe God has blessed you financially, preparing you to help fund a translation project. He may even be calling you to hands-on service, using your unique skills and experience to support Bible translation.
